Obituary of Anita Marie Smith

Anita Marie Smith, 61 , of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Saturday March 1, 2025 at her residence.

Anita Marie Smith, 61, passed away on March 1, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida.  

Born on July 4, 1963, in Pensacola, Anita was a lifelong resident of the city she cherished. She graduated from Pensacola High School as part of the Class of 1982 and dedicated 31 years of service to Baptist Hospital's housekeeping department before retiring.  

Faith was a cornerstone of Anita’s life. She was a devoted member of Englewood Baptist Church, joining under the leadership of JC Collier and continuing her membership under Pastor Larry Watson Jr. From the age of 12, she served faithfully on the Usher Board, demonstrating her deep commitment to her church community.  

Anita found joy in creative expression and spent much of her time drawing and writing in her journal. Her artistic spirit and love for storytelling were treasured by those who knew her.  

She is survived by her twin sister, Annette (Floyd) Herbert; sisters Sheria (Samuel) Simpson and Nathine Smith, all of Pensacola, Florida; sister Annie McGee of Raleigh, North Carolina; brothers Lovell (Dorothy) Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Marvin Smith of Pensacola, Florida; five nephews; three nieces; three great-nephews; and four great-nieces. She also leaves behind three special goddaughters—Shannon Simon, Sherlmy Stallworth, and Taytana Tate—as well as a dear friend, Evangelist Brinda Stallworth. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Lovell Smith, one brother, and one nephew.  

Anita’s memory will live on through the love she shared with family and friends. May her legacy bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
