Enrico “Henry” Filippini, 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Pensacola, FL on January 1, 2025. His
final days were spent with his wife, children and grandchildren by his side.
Mr. Filippini was born on August 1,1945 in Lisciano, Ascoli Piceno, Italy, the youngest of four sons to
Giuseppe and Pasqualina Filippini. The family immigrated to the United States in 1955, settling in the
Temple area where they were in the mushroom business for many years. Along with his brothers, Mr.
Filippini purchased Exeter Public Golf Course and later the Reading Country Club. From 1986 into
the 2000s he developed the residential community, Exeter Golf Club and Estates. With his wife, he also
ventured into the food and beverage business in Orlando, San Antonio and Houston as well as home
goods stores in San Antonio and Houston outlet malls.
He was a member and past president of the St. Marco Society. He served in the U.S. Army full time from
1970-72 and in the reserves until 1976. He was an officer for Temple police in the late 1960s and early
1970s.
He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 51 years, Linda (née Baker), his three children Gina (wife
of Robert Weidenhammer) Angelic (wife of James Hawley), Enrico “Chez” (husband of Kelly Filippini) and
eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Benito of Fleetwood. He is predeceased by his
parents, his brothers Emidio and Luciano, as well as many beloved family and friends.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday January 7 at 12:00PM Eastern Time in
Pensacola, FL at Little Flower Catholic Church. Mr. Filippini’s remains will then be laid to rest in a
graveside service at Gethsemane Cemetery in Temple in the following weeks. Far off relatives and
friends who cannot attend in person are invited to view the funeral Mass via a private livestream.
